Celia
Brooks
Bio
If
home is where the heart is, then one would have to say that C. Brooks lives at
the paint brush. Beaches, mountains, flowers, heart and soul flow freely from
the business end of the brush. Colors and textures abound whether created during
her travels or simply drawn from within. If it must be painted, she will find
it. The search never ends. Watercolors, as well as gold, silver and copper leaf
combined with a plethora of other materials are lovingly applied to a variety of
fine papers, transforming them into the images that are her life. Her many
travels (Brooks has lived in Thailand and traveled to Japan and Canada and
throughout the US) and diverse interests are reflected in her dynamic work.
Born in Atlanta in 1953,
Celia Brooks was raised in a family that encouraged artistic expression. She
attended the Atlanta College of Art and has continued to take classes in
watercolor, acrylics, stained glass and printmaking. She is actively involved in
many local art organizations in the Athens, Ga. area (serving on the executive
boards of the Lyndon House Arts Foundation and Athens Art Association) and works
part-time as an exhibition specialist and instructor at the Lyndon House Arts
Center. Brooks currently resides in Watkinsville, where she maintains a studio
in her home.
Her artwork may be viewed at
the Loef Gallery in downtown Athens, the Gallery Shop at the Lyndon House Arts
Center, ArtMasters in Watkinsville, GA and The Performing Arts Center in Foley,
AL. Commissions are most certainly considered.
