Meetings
Meetings are typically held the first Thursday of the month at the Lyndon House Art Center, 293 Hoyt St., Athens, GA 30601 (706) 613-3623. We begin at 7pm with a program, followed by a business meeting and refreshments. In December, we have a holiday party on a date decided by the members. Also, in May, we hold a spring social, often at a member's home or local park. The Athens Art Association does not meet in June, July, and August. We hope you will join us!
2011-2012 MEETINGS
September 1 Our featured presenter was Noah Saunders, a wire sculptor from Athens. His work at regional exhibitions is captivating by his ability to "draw" with strands of wire.
October 6 From Monroe, Georgia, artist and teacher Susan Pelham detailed her creative work with collage art. Her art is collected and awarded throughout the United Staes.
November 3 Cal Logue of Athens showed us his folk depictions in his wood carvings. He described how he carves various wood to illustrate his experiences.
Christmas Luncheon was at the Hilltop Grille, November 30th, Wednesday, at noon.
January 11 The meeting was held at the Georgia Museum of Art and included information on the museum's history, layout, exhibits and a brief tour.
February 1 at 2pm, we will meet at the UGA Lamar Dodd School of Art for a tour of both student and faculty exhibits. UGA art programs and education trends will be explained.
